Climbers

All of these climbers grow in my garden and they are pretty easy to grow. The point is that, if you lack space in an urban garden, then go upwards. That is, use your fences and other boundaries to grow climbers. The only space that a climber takes is its footprint, so small gardens can have magnificent climbers. My own favourites are clematis – the queen of climbers – but I still try to use the “right plant, right place” rule. In that respect, there are plenty of other beautiful climbers, such as honeysuckle, jasmine and even ivy. I think climbers are an underused resource in urban gardens, so have a go.
